Collier Trophy

Collier Trophy is a fun teams event held annually in May.  The event is aimed at “up and coming” riders to experience the fun of competing in a team.  It is an eventing competition comprising of dressage, cross country and show jumping.  The heights are:

16 yrs & under:  80cm

14 yrs & under: 65cm

12 yrs & under: 65cm (but a simpler cross country than the older age group).

A full team comprises 2 riders for each age group.  We do need to know that the rider will be safe out riding cross country in a wide open space, so ideally the combination will have done at least two events at the required height.

Riders need to meet the rally attendance requirements by close of entries to be in a team:

–          Riders with no certificate, D, D+ or C certificate need to have attended 5 rallies in the past 12 months (3 of these must have been on the pony being entered for the team event)

–          Riders with C+ certificate need to have attended 4 rallies in the past 12 months (including 2 on the pony being entered)

–          Riders with B or higher certificate need 3 rallies (including 1 on the mount being entered)

Team entries are paid for by the Branch and there will likely be some coaching leading up to the event.  It is a requirement that teams provide 2 helpers (usually fence judges) for this event, so families of riders will be asked to provide a helper (jobs to be shared amongst the team(s)).

Combinations who have completed at Springston Trophy or competed at 95cm or above are not eligible to enter for this event.  Those riders who have completed at Springston Trophy or competed at 95cm or above may be able to help make up team numbers on alternative ponies (if you meet the rally requirements), and we encourage you to put your name forward as we may need numbers to enable the up and coming riders to compete in a team, but please note that those riders who haven’t competed at Springston Trophy or at the bigger heights will have priority for riding in teams for Collier Trophy.
